Get familiarized with the ENORMOUS Big Lake Trail System !!
This ride is to introduce you to mostly groomed trails in and around the Big Lake area…with a possible side-trip north to Willow (conditions permitting) Plenty of opportunity for playing in the snow and stopping for an indoor lunch along the way. Most likely a total of 80-90 miles so this ride is intermediate skill level for the distance only (nothing technical).
If you like what you see, Big Lake Trails Inc (non-profit) was formed in 2007 to preserve the recreational qualities for surrounding communities with memberships that make it all possible. Directions for the ride: MP 52.3 on the Parks Highway north, turn at signs for Big Lake heading west approximately 3.5 miles to the first roundabout approaching downtown Big Lake at the Tesoro gas station, take roundabout turnoff for North Shore Drive, drive about 2 miles until the road dead ends at the parking lot and lake shoreline where we’ll park and meet up.
We’ll meet at 930 and be ready to ride by 1030am. Bring snacks and extra gas for playing in the swamps.
